Analysis of Blood
Miles J Feulner 1981 (Utah)
Blood on the tracks
Blood on the mace
Blood on red roses
Blood that seeps into cracks-
and every vice.
Blood that is fake
Blood, is it poisoned?
Blood for the patient
Blood for the anointed
Bloody red crosses
Blood dried-on forgotten verses
Blood sealed countless cases
And soiled the runny nose on some punched in faces.
Blood and sacrifices
Pooled between 2 curtains
Blood in a circle
At a roman circus
Blood shaped in a pentagram
Drips from his thorned face,
Of He who was & is Sacred-
His blood is forgiveness.
Blood too often forgotten.
Blood that saves
And saved just in case
DNA exonerates after two decades
Blood money for each day
Sometimes it’s too late
Cuz the Blood can’t wait while you spill it in haste.
Their hands remain stained
Illy begotten & framed.
Cleansed till it’s rotten.
Spilt till it’s pure.
Musing your heart out
Believing in love again for her
Even though to bleed, it hurts.
It’s nice to feel, again.
Like this time it had worth
No blood lost
Like a random coin toss.
Blood if it’s heads
It’s tails, but still bled.
Blood on a handshake
Or a skewered white whale.
Well that’s a lot of blood for one page.
Oh please it won’t sell-

About this poem
A confrontation with our humanness, contrasting triumphs and pitfalls using the word ‘blood’ as a theme. Starts out confrontational and I hope ends with the reader feeling whimsical and hopeful; as well as a hug.
