Analysis of Defensive Wounds

The beautiful sound the early morning dove never fails to sing
Is a song unknown to little Molly Kling.
Her resting eyes forced open by the sounds of vases violently being smashed,
The soft coziness of her pillow disappearing so fast.

Down the stairs, intense yelling of insults and blame
Is how her parents avoid feeling their own shame.
Both shielding behind mirrors facing their opposite direction,
Unknowingly creating bullets with the consequences of their constant deflection.

At seemingly the most random of times,
The bullets fire hitting Molly who is defenseless and without a lifeline.
Though the wounds inflicted never show up on her body physically,
The injuries will bleed throughout her life subliminally.

Appearing in the lack of joy felt while surrounded by laughter,
And in her aggressive tendencies that lead to disaster.
Isolation becomes the only thing that truly feels like home,
Because putting her trust in someone else is harder than just facing the world alone.
