Analysis of Musings of a Hopeful Tree
Musings of a Hopeful Tree
Roots were cut one after another
Letting me die a painful death
Leaves were drying and falling faster
Than when I was in good health.
Worms were crawling over my roots
Drinking my sap from my trunk
My strength was failing sucked by brutes
And my bark was almost shrunk
All the leaves of mine had fallen
Except for a feeble twig
Proof left behind from what stolen
Appears to others not so big.
But that was life for me to muse
From a tiny root that makes me hope
Till someone cuts me to use
For something better than I dared to hope
