Analysis of Detached

Asfa Iman 2001 (Pakistan)

A sense of belonging, i lack
Want to see colors around, but it's dull and black
From home to hostel, hostel to home
It feels like, i nowhere belong

With people i meet, to subjects i study
I find myself detached and sturdy
It's me being controversial
Or is it universal
We try to mold
To hold on to people, we never belonged

In some vulnerable state
I say what we all can relate
"Where are my people, where are my peers"
I'm forfeited and in tears

In this world, i want change
But everything feels same and lame
Feeling so far away
I'm kind of astray

But now, i like to  roam
And somehow, I've grown
I'm no more prone
To this Cyclone
Of dismay and terror
And I reckon, it'll get better
