Analysis of Comeback

Rotting in its lair, nothing but pitch black,
Been here too long, please let me backtrack.
I’m done. Will  cognac.
The fortitude to fight back, I lack.
Doubt I can win. It's stout, like a Mongolian yak.
No match. Zero chance. I’m a carriage in a racetrack.
It’s wrestling and I’m submitted, on my back.

Get up! Don’t give in to this hijack.
Chin up. Retrieve your pride back.
Don’t fold, this isn’t blackjack.
Don’t give up, clawback!
Scheme a counter-attack.
Fight back!

Stop the nonsense. It's time for payback.
Truth is, you are nothing, mere knickknack.
Me, I’m a killer, a Kodiak.
King Kong, the carnivorous silverback.

Swallow you up in one gulp, humpback
Grind you into powder then add water, flapjack.
I’m off my leash, chop you with ease, lumberjack.
Snap your spine in half, hunchback.
Dak Prescott banging off the turf, touchback.

Impale a spike through your heart then carry you outback.
Start the car and stuff you in a knapsack,
Driving around town, looking for a cul de sac.
The deed is done, come home and pop a six pack.
No mercy. Feed you to the wolves, the whole pack.
, queue victory soundtrack
I’m flying away, goodbye tarmac.
I’ve done it, I’ve conquered this melancholic maniac.

About this poem

I wrote this poem to express my ongoing battle with depression. Lately though, I have been having success to keep it at bay.
