Analysis of Must finish the novel…must finish the…
Give me clothes pins
For my eyes.
Must keep eyes open.
Following lines.
Following plot line.
Guy wonders about
Beautiful girl.
She comes in his store for shoes.
Stylish, slim, stiletto perhaps.
Now if Fenimore Cooper
Had written it, then six pages
Dedicated to store walls, curtains
Flooring, aroma.
Atmosphere unending.
Oops my eyelids crashing again.
If Hemingway had written it
Half page describing with longing.
Shape of her legs, smell of perfume.
Torchy attractive prize further
Up the skirt. Maybe a chance after espresso.
I am wide awake now.
If Stevenson had written, then
Three pages of torment, tossing
Between split persona
One gentlemanly in the sales effort.
A professional with good diction.
Well washed hands.
The other drueling and lusting
To hold a dagger up to her throat.
Just to hear her screams.
Store would be very under-lit.
If Bronte (Emily) had written it
The sales Guy would have to be named
Heathcliff bashing his head
Repeatedly out of frustration
Against some shelving.
Wanting to possess the Girl
Speak his poetry in lilting stanzas.
Take her home to Mama
And Aunt Whinny.
And two dogs.
If Michael Connelly had written it
Store definitely in L. A.
Sales Guy suffered
From refusals to play by the book.
Several others leered at him
Wanting his job. Thinking that there
Was some big mistake, somewhere.
Probably in the cold files.
Store owner had often urged counseling.
Guy embarrassed about his name
H…………..Bosch.
Girls hardly mattered. Not even this one.
But in truth Sandra Brown
Had written it.
Girl had amnesia from a martial
Arts Class. Five hours earlier.
Told the handsome gay instructor
She was OK.
Wandering the downtown.
No real interest in shoes.
Her rich parents having already hired
A private eye. For the frantic search.
THEIR ONLY CHILD.
Was it Easy Rawlings or Philip Marlowe?
Or Clete Purcell, Dave’s buddy?
Yawn and yawn again.
Crash and out.
Blankets in disarray.
Sandra sorry. Tomorrow.
