Analysis of Resurrection Sunday

Nancy Rodriquez 1965 (Temple)

Resurrection Sunday
By Nancy Rodriquez

I know what today is supposed to be about,
and it is not all bunnies and eggs,
Christ gave his all and it is he who we can't live without,
thirty-nine stripes down his back and legs,
He was unrecognizable when he was nailed on the cross,
Mary wept as she knelt at the scene,
She knew what he had to do to reconcile the lost,
her heart was breaking, yet it had to be,
She had been blessed to carry the Savior,
inside of her womb for those nine months,
blessed among women, chosen for her purity and valor,
Still, seeing him dying must have felt like a gut punch,
Weeping lasted for an evening, and joy came in the morning,
The risen Savior denied the grave,
There was not heard any more mourning,
on Ressurection Sunday,
Hell had been defeated too,
Jesus had made the way,
our sins are forgiven when we bow our heads to pray.
