Analysis of Where should I sleep
Where should I sleep
There are many rooms that I have seen
Always fitting in where it might suit me
I wear my heart upon my sleeve but there is never space for my arms, my unexpected deity
Where I lay my head is not my true bed
I walk from room to room but never find my identity
I look for you. The small one, the medium and the big one too
For now I am a Goldilocks, walking these rooms
One day I dream of sleep but for now I can only weep
The times where I was allowed to be free
I sit in chains, feels like my head is circling round a drain
I am lost, I wish for sleep, the time will pass, another waking dream to cast
So for now I walk the halls, which room for me really calls
I think my time has come, a moment passed, a room of moss
My room has gone, I travel, I feel such loss.
Come back my bed, I wish so much to lay my head
I will walk and feel a happiness here, alone but knowing you have always been there.
Good night my little ones, I will dream again, I will wake always to be your Mum.

About this poem
There are moments in motherhood which step testing. Luckily those moments have subsided. This was a moment where I was lost or perhaps more precisely could not be found.
