Analysis of I am a tree

I HAVE PROVIDED AIR
So you can breathe
I HAVE PROVIDED SHADE
So you can see
And escape the heat
Im a tree
I HAVE PROVIDED THE MATERIAL YOU NEEDED
To start to build your dreams
I HAVE BEEN PURIFYING YOUR ATMOSPHERE
I HAVE CLEANSED YOUR WATER
I HAVE EVEN PROVIDED YOU SHELTER
When your lost without help.
I have given you life
while you selfishly take mine
And you continue
To take and take from me
And never give back
By hurting me
You hurt yourself
I CANT keep providing for you
If you don’t care for me
It's true
That what you take
I can replace for you
But never abuse your powers
For i can take from you too

About this poem

I wrote this poem in response to a challenge to write about the current state of the environment and what we can do to help. with that being said, I believe a lot of people have forgotten that nature can take FAR more from US than we could ever take from IT. This planet has done and continues to do everything for us. It's time we show to our earth the same level of respect and care it has shown us since the moment this planet was formed. Without nature we wouldn’t have medicine. We wouldn’t have technology or any of the luxuries we have today. The relationships humans have with nature highlight the levels of interconnectivity the earth possesses. What we do to our planet, we do to ourselves. I believe humans are meant to be together and connected with their surroundings. It's the only reason we have stood the test of time. It is high time we give back what we take to clean up the mess we made. It will take time. It will test our patience and it will test our faith. But this planet needs to keep providing for us and we need to provide for it. We have to keep growing. So lets grow. And lets grow together.
