Analysis of Ministry Complaints
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
O Lord, You are stronger than I,
You deceived and I was deceived;
You prevailed I cannot deny,
A laughingstock that I believed.
For everyone has been mocking me,
Shouting violent destruction;
Your Word made a reproach to be,
To become as a derision.
I won’t mention or speak Your name,
My heart has a burning fire;
I am weary growing insane,
Holding in my true desire.
For I hear many whispering,
As terror is on every side;
Under their breath the murmuring,
For denouncing wanting to chide.
They keep watching for me to fall,
But we will prevail against them;
Take revenge, O Lord that I call,
Making that Your wrath will condemn.
You are such a dreaded warrior,
That can make persecutors stumble;
And can set up a barrier,
Or a snare to make them tumble.
For I want to preach to proclaim,
So that the righteous will succeed;
Putting all of my foes to shame,
Eternal dishonor they need.
O Lord and see my heart and mind,
Let me see Your vengeance on them;
For I remain humble and kind,
But want to stop all this mayhem.
