Analysis of Bottle With A Cork
Meygan Hastings 2006 (Maryland)
I am simply a bottle with a cork,
I am a clear glass bottle with a worn out cork.
As time passes, I fill the emptiness.
Drops of water fall into the bottle.
The bottle is small with a slim neck,
Small smudges and scratches align the outside.
Covered in fingerprints,
Drops of water fall into the bottle
The bottle is never emptied,
It continues to fill as the cork wears away.
The cork is gone,
Drops of water continue to fill the bottle
The bottle overflows, spilling its contents.
For I am a bottle with no cork,
Full and bound to break.
Drops of water flow out of the bottle.
The bottle covered in water and full,
A hand picks up the bottle.
It pours the water out,
The bottle becomes empty,
A cork is placed on top.
I am this simple bottle with a cork.
