Analysis of Sad Day

Today is a sad one, I’m afraid
I have only tears to tell how much it hurts
You kicked me out without mercy
I crossed half a country
To be by your side
Only to be rejected everyday
Why would you do that?
No money making hands
Or a body for your pleasure
And a mind bent on placing me
Behind any other reason
You thought more attractive
While I turned ugly.

The hurt locker you put me in
Feels cold and lonely as a prison
You threw away the key
Everyday you neglected me
I’ve lost count of the tears
My lonely face falls for you
I thought you loved me
How wrong I was
I left unable to say goodbye
Instead I watched our dogs
Searching me for an answer
As the cats looked one last time
At the things I couldn’t carry.

All my belongings I couldn’t keep
Lay on the floor like a story
I would never read again
The landlord was a real bitch
Driving us out due to
Unconditional love on four legs
Too many for her taste
Your rejection bears a weight
I carry like an indictment
My crime was loving you
For your mendacity
A lie marks a grave
Where love never was.
