Analysis of Addicted to Choas
Tammie Swinehart 1974 (Mooresville, IN)
In the throes of chaos, I find my thrill,
Addicted to the rush, the wild and untamed,
A dance with turmoil, a dangerous quill,
In this tumultuous realm, I am named.
Like a moth drawn to a flickering flame,
I'm enticed by the flames chaos can ignite,
In the storm's eye, I feel no shame,
For chaos, to me, is a mesmerizing sight.
A tempest whirls within my soul,
Thriving amidst disorder's art,
Through twists and turns, I find my role,
In a world where order falls apart.
Yet, in the midst of this tangled mess,
I crave the thrill, the adrenaline flow,
Though chaos leaves my spirit less,
I cannot resist its fervent glow.
But as I delve deeper into this haze,
I realize the price I must pay,
For chaos, in its mysterious ways,
Will eventually lead my soul astray.
In the calm after the tempest's wake,
I seek solace from the turbulent ride,
I yearn for a path that's steady and straight,
To break free from chaos's hold inside.
For though chaos can be an addicting brew,
Its embrace is not where I belong,
In search of peace, I'll journey anew,
To find a place where my heart is strong.
So, I'll strive to escape its chaotic snare,
To seek the calm in life's symphony,
For in the stillness, I'll find repair,
And break the chains of this addiction to flee.

About this poem
This song comes from the relationship between my sister and me. Which is not good. My sister for reasons unknown just never liked me, and always treated me bad. But she would have moments of pretend likeness or times when she would say she wanted us to get along. But then in those moments, she would find something to lash out at me for. I used to always wonder if I was the source of the chaos and confusion.
