Analysis of Mismatched Socks

Kaley Julian 1994 (Springfield Missouri)

In laundry piles and under the bed,
A common tale that's often said.
Lost socks vanish, where do they roam?
Leaving their partners all alone.

Do they slip behind the dryer's drum,
Or stick to clothes until they're done?
Perhaps they're exploring places new,
A sock adventure, a different view.

Two goes in, but only one comes out,
Leaving us puzzled, with a silent shout.
Did the dryer eat you? Did you take flight?
Oh, lost socks, where's your hiding site?

Behind the couch, beneath the bed,
In the laundry room, where you fled?
A solo sock, you dance alone,
Your partner's absence clearly shown.
