Analysis of Sorry For His Next Me
Her youth is a given.
His intentions, and efforts to woo her will be exacerbating, and driven.
She will be free of care.
That breezy nature will fade as he starts to steal all of her air.
She will feel spoiled, and blessed with all the gifts he will no doubt buy.
Those feelings will change as she begins to grasp the links he can drag a lie.
His “love” for her will be all encompassing nothing short of smothering.
His hammered wedge will sever ties of those who care for her, or offered mothering.
In a room with her lover alone she will feel.
Isolated, confused, and frightened no support, no way to deal.
Free of spirit, and heart she will begin.
Only crushing pain she will know as he tears her heart from within.
Where bubbles filled her soul before.
He will take her confidence for his own, and so much more.
Hate for her I should have had.
I now take solace, no longer am I sad.
She can take my place in the that tortured line.
That was a life I could bare no more to be mine.
She will be bound to his abuses not knowing how to break free.
I Delight my sentence is over, and all I feel now is sorry for his next me.

About this poem
I was in an abusive marriage for 20 years, and finally was able to get out. The marriage was full of infidelity, and violence. I started therapy, and used journaling and writing as a healing tool. My Ex moved on quickly while I continue to heal those deep wounds. This poem is about how grateful I am to be out of the violence, and the sympathy I feel for any victim of abuse.
