Analysis of Play Safe

Benson Chukwueke 1971 (Owerri)

It's better to say NO,
Don't say you don't know,
Cos it shows not on the face,
But think of the ordeals you'll face
Your life and future at stake,
Before making the same mistake.

It's but some minutes of fun,
Then you're forever done.
For you'll become so sick,
And the wound you'll always lick.
No friend nor parent you can proudly tell,
So you keep suffering alone in hell.

It's better to play safe, my dear,
Protect yourself or stay clear.
For the death clock in the blood,
Spreads easily like a flood.
Just one careless move on bed,
The virus will strike you dead.

So remember, my friend, it's your choice,
To say NO and resist those tempting voice
Keep yourself protected or walk away in a brisk
For a moment's pleasure, don't take the risk,
Say NO to the dangers that lurks
And protect yourself from the virus that smirks.

Benson Chukwueke

Owerri, Nigeria since 1971. This is how I process and express my innermost cogitations; sitting back with pen and paper, painting words and polishing them until they become flowered verses. I guess for these actions, I could be called a poet or what do think? more…
