Analysis of Zen in the Cyclone

When dark clouds gather round her head,
And thunder cracks the sky overhead,
Volatile winds whip rain ‘cross the moor-
Be the calm in her storm.

Though lightning strikes kindle fires of dread,
As downpours threaten to drown hope dead,
Wild gales howl loud, churning waves fore-
Be the calm in her storm.

Let not the tempest’s fury deter,
Nor swirling chaos cloud reason & spur-
Stand steadfast ‘mid the maelstrom’s roar-
Be the calm in her storm.

Be anchor in the flood, her guide star-
Harbor of rest, though far seas mar-
The eye within the hurricane’s core-
Be the calm in her storm.

When anger & pain rage out of control,
And life’s cruel blows erode her soul,
Tempestuous seas churning ashore-
Be the calm in her storm.

Though albatrosses circle seeking prey,
And dread Leviathan lurks ‘neath the spray-
A beacon through breakers she can’t ignore-
Be the calm in her storm.

Don’t recoil from the tempest’s brute force,
But stand fast, unmoving as bedrock’s source-
For ferocity always will spend its course-
Be the calm in her storm.

Be stoic oak on the wind-ravaged plain,
So when wailing gales at last wane,
She’ll have safe harbor from the tempest’s roar-
Be the calm in her storm.

Though thunderheads threaten to blot out the sun,
And raging waves crush dreams one by one,
Stay stalwart ‘gainst turmoil without cease-
Be the calm in her storm.

When coats of arms crack under duress,
And waking nightmares her mind oppress,
Tempest-tossed, lost all sense of peace-
Be the calm in her storm.

Stand steadfast as winds seek to disarm,
Be haven where she can weather life's harm-
For soon enough comes the final release-
Be the calm in her storm.
