Analysis of Not Yet Black

Blackening, though not yet black,
there's still something that I lack:
a tiny crack letting light in
colors me alive, a sort of sin
against the vultures of the night.
In my sight, it's only right that I defend
this poor, makeshift frame 'til the end:
there might be hell or simply a spell
of boundless blackness on the other side,
so I might as well try my best and glide
like a young, smiling cloud; enjoy the ride.
