Analysis of Mannequin

Sarah Brower 1995 (New Jersey)

Spewing words to dead velcro
eyes blink back the sting
an invisible sting

Angry waves flutters by headlights
anybody home?

Tore out my heart
dripping language of tears
yet silence is the mother tongue

Your head slants
meeting your shoulders
wires disconnected
did they ever spark?

Spark,
like the kind your eyes lack
the kind your mind can’t comprehend
the spark that’s stabbing my heart
