Analysis of To Those Lonely Tonight
To Those Lonely Tonight
On Christmas Eve,
What are you doing?
Watching alone the blinding lights?
Bothered by nostalgic Christmas songs,
Triggered by memories of wholeness,
Carefree madness, when you were a child?
Broken, are you?
Drowning in a deluge of unforgiving doubts?
Being asked questions by a throng
Who listens and understands not?
How do you deal with it?
Where does a soul find company in the dark?
Oh, Christ waits at the end of this hopeless road.
He gives peace, offers rest,
Calls you awhile to halt.
Let your heart, in Him, find solace:
To really live, indulge in His grace.
Joy does not always come loud and clear,
Trumpeted by a host of angels in mid-air:
Joy is a seed Christ plants
In parched hearts,
Watered by seemingly weak faith,
Fertilized by God's assuring love.
Hold on, Pilgrim,
Dare not give up.
This night will pass like a whim,
This darkness will not last.
Sadness runs away swiftly and then...
Gladness, dancing with tambourine
On a mountaintop.
She will welcome you again, a familiar friend,
Or a lover,
And invite you to lay your head
On her lap.
