Analysis of Trials of Maturity
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
If any of you lack wisdom,
God will give it generously;
His refusal would be seldom,
Within your plea asked graciously.
Ask Him in faith without a doubt,
Unlike the waves tossed by the wind;
Never grumble or try to pout,
Be spiritually disciplined.
One must not think he will receive,
Of any requests from the Lord;
If they do not firmly believe,
As their requests can be ignored.
For a double-minded person,
Will be unstable in their ways;
Not finished what they have begun,
Because their mind wanders and strays.
The brother of a low degree,
Will rejoice in exaltation;
His humbleness will help to see,
The Lord with his adoration.
The rich in humiliation,
Is like a flower of the grass;
Suffer annihilation,
When seeing that summer will pass.
For the sun with its scorching heat,
Withers the grass and the flower falls;
Beauty perishes under feet,
No longer the rich man enthralls.
Bless those who endure a trial,
For they have stood the test of time;
Resisting what would defile,
With a victory over crime.
