Analysis of Search Me and Know My Heart
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
Where shall I go from Your Spirit?
Where shall I flee from Your presence?
Somewhere that would be as private,
The best hiding place in essence.
I go to Heaven You are there,
Going to hell there You will be;
A hiding place I don’t know where,
Someplace that you would never see.
If I fly on wings at the dawn,
Or dwell deep down under the sea;
You will be there waiting upon,
No matter where I try to flee.
Even there You will take my hand,
And hold me while as my guide;
On solid rock You have me stand,
As You teach me how to abide.
Surely the darkness shall cover,
Your Spirit shall be shining bright;
Lighting my path to discover,
For my direction through the night.
Even the darkness is not dark,
For the night turns bright as day;
Lightning the path where I embark,
So that I would not go astray.
