Analysis of Dear Alligator
Dear alligator
How was your swim
From there the bottom
Of the river to
Here the river-bank to
Swing in
Evening tide in
A
Packet of ocean air
Dear alligator
Are the crocodiles feeling well?
Feeding well on a terrine
Of tasty mackerel treat?
Are the lowly beasts
Of the river
Cowing well, cowing well
At the instance
Of the towering sharks?
Dear alligator,
Tilapia tells terrific tales
Of the water shelf
Catfish recounts saddening news
Down the river depth
Come dear 'gator,
Are the crocs feeding well?
Feeling well?
The river may rumble
The ocean may tumble
All goes well
If the crocs live well.
