Analysis of I Lost My Best Friend Today
I lost my best friend today.
Not the kind of friend I chose to have in my life,
But the kind who was there from the start.
The kind who wiped countless tears from my eyes.
The kind who brought a lifetime of smiles to my face.
The kind who cheered me on during my best days,
Even when she was having her worst.
The kind who never once asked for anything in return.
I lost my best friend today.
Today is the day, I lost my mom.

About this poem
I was by my mother’s side as she passed on March 14th, 2024. I have a void in my soul that can only be filled by all the beautiful memories she gifted to me during her lifetime.
