Analysis of MY HEART QUAKES

MY HEART QUAKES

I remember I was so in awe
Of the story of Your birth
Of the angels the shepherds saw
Announcing the King come to earth
My heart quakes as I see the manger
My Savior come to earth as a Stranger

I wonder where the awe I held went
As the years have come ond gone
I've been trampled by the Serpent
I bow, and long for the Kingdom’s Dawn
My heart quakes as I know he's crushed
My Savior's cries, the devil was hushed

I search still for that bright star
To lighten the darkness all around
Truly the world has left a deep scar
Leave the world outside David's town
My heart quakes as Wise arrive before
My Savior, they bow and adore

Will we ever know how You paid such a cost
That started that ancient Silent Night?
The road from the manger to the Cross
To give  us all God's eternal Light
My heart quakes as the Child cries
My Savior, for me He's born…and dies

Sometimes we lose that humbling awe
Sometimes the story seems over told
Ask the shepherds, just what they saw
Or ask the magi why they gave gold
My heart quakes as I recall the tale
My Savior, my King, before Him I fell

So take a moment, to forget gifts
St Nick be silent, and bells don't ring
Recall the Child, Mary gently lifts
The Babe of whom the Angels sing
My heart quakes, as my tears fall
My Savior, who gave us His all
AMEN

About this poem

But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.
