Analysis of THE STORY OF LIFE

THE STORY OF LIFE

There was a Stranger in a distant land
Said things so strange we didn't understand
Talked of a Kingdom where we'd all be free
And of a Glory, beyond all we'd ever be

He cured the sick, healed the lame
Someone new, well never be the same
Preaching life on Galilee's shore
Eternal words echo forever more

He opposed hypocrisy in all it's guise
Tore down the walls of religious lies
He confounded the wisdom of the wise
The Truth of His Word opened eyes

And some, oh they loved this Holy One!
Proclaimed that He was God's own Son!
But others said He was a fool's king!
That His words had a demonic ring!

Stories were told, about His Birth
"A miracle! God's come to earth!"
Born of a virgin in David's Town
 Prophets told, Emmanuel is found

But the pharisees of the distant land
We're blind, deaf, and didn't understand
In this Jesus they saw just a threat
Their own dreams and prayers they forfeit

Among the chosen there was one
Who betrayed God's only Son
For thirty pieces of silver, as fortold
Price of a field — his Master sold

Away in the night, in anguish He pray
Our Savior begged off the coming day
But the time had come, plans not amiss
Judas shows us that a kiss is not a kiss

Led away as a Lamb to the slaughter
The Divine Fountain of Living Water
Through His city, captive God was led
To take the world's sin upon His head

Alone, forsaken, He faced His foes
A calm assurance Divinely shows
Beaten, mocked, and treated unjust
He is silent, in His God He trusts

Before Pilate, they cursed His name
Refused to judge Him when He came
To Herod He was then taken away
Who wanted a jester come to play.

Mocked by a Crown of Thorns
Pressed on His head, flesh is torn
There begins the Cleansing Flood
Of our Savior's Spilt Blood

Again before Pilate, he sought to release
As the crowd roars and threatens peace
To appease the crowd he whips the King
And Christ's skin tore at each whip's sting

Yet louder grew the crowd's shouts, "crucify!"
So Pilate sent Jesus to the Cross to die
Beaten beyond measure, but still our King
The moment of destiny, the sentence ring

Taken to the hill called Calvary
Was the King for all men to see
A procession left the city for His death
As all of Creation holds its breath

The ring of a hammer hitting the nail
Breaks from man, the sentence of Hell
In the spring air Our Lords nailed down
The Roman cruelty —the Cross's bound

His feet are torn, His blood flows out
Living Water from this spout
Salvation bought, for both you and I
Darkness covered the earth and sky

His cries echoed for the earth to hear
Through the ages, to this very year
But there's a cry that touches all who live
"Father, they know not what they do, please forgive!"

Soon after He bows His weary battered head
In that moment our Savior was truly dead
And they pierced His side with a sword
To ensure the death of our Lord

In a rich tomb our Messiah was laid
Beaten, forsaken, utterly betrayed
Over His tomb was rolled a stone
So that our Lord would be left alone

Guard was kept, night and day
So the Lord wasn't taken away
But on Sunday, an Angel appear
The guards fainted in utter fear

God Himself, threw the stone
Christ arose! Our sin stone!
Death was defeated, by this strife
A victorious tale, the story of Life
AMEN
