Analysis of Bird
NN Young 1975 (Mississippi)
I wish I was a bird
So i could fly away from here
And escape all the pain
Misery and fear
I’d soar through the clouds
With the wind in my face
Far from earthly problems
Gliding through with grace
I’d get myself together
Way up in the sky
So when I came back down
I wouldn’t have to cry
The tears would come in flight
And gush out like rain
I’d cleanse my soul up there
And put out the flame
The flame of fear within me
It burns so hot on land
But way up there I’d soothe it
Wouldn’t that be grand?!
I’d come back down refreshed
And cleansed of all the pain
Until it becomes too much to bear
Then I’d fly away again
