Cuckoo-birds don't read the clock,
they just "call" the time.
Tardy-birds don't read the clock,
they just "miss" their prime.

Gallows-birds don't fly the coop,
they just "hang" around.
Dodo-birds don't fly the coop,
they just "stand" their ground.

Early-birds don't dine on curds,
they just "get" the worms.
Dolly-birds don't dine on curds,
they just "eat" their terms.

Hummingbirds don't know the words,
they just "hum" along.
Mockingbirds don't know the words,
they just "mock" their song.
