Analysis of Roses and Violets, Part II
If roses were red,
And violets were blue,
If they really were both,
Truly this hue,
Then you’d understand,
You’d see me right through,
You’d know in an instance,
How I felt about you,
I’d never have questioned,
If this really were true,
I’d never rewrite,
This poem all anew,
I’d never regret,
That day I met you.
And wouldn’t be forced,
To bid you adieu,
If roses really were red,
This dream, I’d never construe,
And if violets really were blue,
Love would have not, a need to renew,
No, roses aren’t red,
Nor violets a blue,
For love you I did,
If only… if only you knew.
