Analysis of Star-Crossed

I watch him fall apart and surrender to the reaper
Ascending to oblivion to meet our kingdom's keeper

And every drop of blood falls like rain inside my mind
Elucidates my murky eyes to what I'll leave behind

I stare upon his grave in the shadow of the day
But I only see a mirror, so I give my life away

To a deeper, higher power that I cannot understand understand
And my tender heart is sheltered in his vast and unseen hand

And the storm from years of past grasps my soul within the night
With a gunshot and a scream, so culminates my plight

To any that remember me, still loyal to my soul,
Know their knives could never wound me; know I stand up tall and whole

One day, you may join me if you dare to be so brave
So your destiny awaits you in a place beyond the grave

If you look up to the stars, discern the brightest one you see,
Know you gaze upon my spirit, honored for eternity

Katie Odell

“I used to think I was the strangest person in the world but then I thought there are so many people in the world, there must be someone just like me who feels bizarre and flawed in the same ways I do. I would imagine her, and imagine that she must be out there thinking of me too. Well, I hope that if you are out there and read this and know that, yes, it's true I'm here, and I'm just as strange as you.” ― Frida Kahlo more…
