Analysis of Tapestry of Babel

I awoke in this world
with one language --
building a tower to my stars
rivalling Babel.

All the forces of Heaven and Earth
could not deter me,
for I had one consistent voice.

Your entry into my life
was a blessed burden
from the God
in and around us all.

I have been fractured,
and now have many new tongues --
crying out out for divergent desires,
tearing me asunder.

I harbor a new loneliness;
all of these tongues
only wish to speak to you,
but can't.

I am grateful though;
wholeness cannot be shattered.
I was gifted with the opportunity
to see all of myself --
the parts that seethe with jealousy,
and those that wither
under mean-spirited self-pity.
I also have found the soft sponge
of warm and gentle creativity.

If I was not meant
to build a tower of surity,
I revel in the task
of weaving a subjective tapestry
of devotion.
I have learned the dyes of love
for you, myself, and all others.
