Analysis of Vikki's Lament

I'm lying here with my eyes closed
Thinking of everything that I pre-supposed
I don't know why I'm letting it upset me,
The fact that we are never going to be.

You're in my head
Every day
My heart says "yes"
But my head says "nay"

Each and every day I say "I love you"
And every time you repeat those words too
But it's clearly visible they mean to me
Something completely different than you can see.

Never stop thinking
Of what could be
If there was something linking
Your heart to me.

Tell me now if I made a mistake
By revealing my feelings far too late
If I had been honest, right down to the letter,
Is there any chance things could have ended better?
