Analysis of YOU ARE SOMEBODY (Poem #265)
You might think that you're nobody
Because nothing great you think you've done.
Being a famous personality
To some may be a lot of fun.
But if you only knew
The things that other people admire
Are the little things you do
Without fanning any fire.
It's the smile to an older person
Who may be looking down,
Or a warm hello to those
You meet around the town.
It's the door you may have held open,
Or the hand of the little child you took.
It's through wisdom and knowledge
You've gathered wherever you look.
It's the thank you, please, and I care
That makes a face really shine
Which makes you really somebody
Special to many of mankind.
