Analysis of Bidh mi a ’deàrrsadh, chan ann a’ losgadh/I Shine, Not Burn

Bidh mi a ’deàrrsadh, chan ann a’ losgadh,
Agus rinn mi e gus nach b ’urrainn dhomh,
Sin nuair a chleachd mi an solas agam airson miann a losgadh,
Gràdh, a ’chiad fhear agam ann an aois òige,
Thòisich cridhe gleansach a ’losgadh,
I bha e a ’losgadh agus bha fios agam,
Ach cha b ’urrainn dhomh na lasraichean a chuir às,
Mo chridhe, air a ghoid air falbh,
Agus cha robh fios aig an neach a ghoid mo chridhe,
Thàinig mo bheatha gu bhith na dhìomhaireachd,
Agus chaidh an lasair sin, nuair a dh ’fhalbh e, às mo chiall agus loisg e mi,
Tha na h-uillt agam air slànachadh gu ìre,
Ach rinn na lotan a dh ’fhuirich boireannach dhomh,
Agus an seo tha mi an-diugh, nam shuidhe ann an teine is lasair, a ’losgadh agus a’ brùthadh cruadal an t-saoghail, tha fios agam gun deach mo chothrom a shèideadh nuair a lasadh mi.

I shine, not burn,
And I did it until I could not,
That's when I used my light to burn desire,
Love, my first in the age of youth,
A shining heart began to burn,
I it was burning and I knew,
But I could not extinguish the flames,
My heart, stolen away,
And he that stole my heart knew not,
My life became a secret,
And that flame, when he went away, went mad and burned me,
My burns have partially healed,
But the wounds that stayed made me a woman,
And here I am today, sitting in fire and flame, burning and brooding the cruelness of the world, I know my chance was blown when I ignited.
