Restoration of Favor
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
You restored favor to Your land,
While restoring the fortunes;
Making it fertile in the sand,
To prosper with good intentions.
You forgave the iniquity,
By covering all of their sin;
Ignoring your authority,
That has corrupted them within.
You have withdrawn all of Your wrath,
You turned away from hot anger;
Guiding them on the narrow path,
Comforting to make them languor.
Restore us with Your salvation,
No longer angered forever;
Put away Your indignation,
With a bond that will not sever.
Revive us again to rejoice,
Prolong Your anger no longer;
For glad tidings in our voice,
Helping us to become stronger.
Show us mercy with steadfast love,
While granting us salvation;
Your blessings flowing from above,
Making us a new creation.
Let me hear what my Lord will speak,
For speaking peace unto His saints;
Turning not to folly what we seek,
Thinking freely without constraints.
Surely Your salvation is near,
That glory in this land may dwell;
For those who are displaying fear,
Being kept from the depths of hell.
Steadfast love and faithfulness meet,
Justice and peace kiss each other;
For making life to be complete,
Mercy and truth are together.
Faithfulness spouts up from the ground,
Righteousness looks down from the sky;
Joining with a heavenly sound,
That causes the angels to reply.
