Escape

I wonder in the shadows of doubt,
Each footstep made with great stride,
 Eyes wide open scared of emptiness,
 Heart pounding to the drum of wonderment and fearfulness.

Days seem distant
 Nights seem endless
 The candle burning into petals of fragile clearness.

Gazing upon the window ledge
 Amazed by the stars,
 Memories escape the mind,
 Down deep they stay wedged.

Laughter a rare commodity
 Is tears unknown Phantom
 The person behind the mask and audity

Is yearning for the day to break
 Is yearning for a smile not fake
 Opening the door to future gates.
