Dear Mother of Exiles
Bones Dirt 2006 (Tennessee)
Dear Mother of Exiles,
you claim to let everyone in
to be welcoming to all,
But I know this country's largest sin
and that leaving them to fall.
the congressmen and politicians
do not really care
if the people that need us most,
are left alone to bare
the tragedies and travesties
of where they are right now,
I know they think they're being fair
but my question is how?
You say "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,"
but almost every single day,
that is not what I see
I see people waiting days, months, years
for the slimmest chance of cover
just for someone to interfere
and the process starts all over
Dear Mother of Exiles
that's all I had say
but this can't just be pushed away
for another day
this problem needs to be addressed right now
I don't know where or how
but for now
I know we can sort it out.
Forever yours.
About this poem
This is just a poem I wrote in English today at school and I liked it so I wanted to post it here :) It's about how immigration is treated in the United States. I truly hope you enjoy it.
