Apostolic Ministry
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
When I came to preach the Gospel,
Although the door was open wide;
There was still skeptical people,
Having some thoughts that I have lied.
For my spirit was not at rest,
On not finding any brother;
Even though I had done my best,
How Christ cares for one another.
But thanks be to God who in Christ,
Leads to triumphal procession;
Spreads fragrance who was sacrificed,
Displays spiritual expression.
We are the aroma of Christ,
To God among those to be saved;
A scent that makes one be enticed,
Who will perish that sin enslaved.
A sinful fragrance causing death,
To the other fragrance to life;
That is sufficient with each breath,
Travelling in the midst of strife.
We are not like many peddlers,
That are cashing in on the Word;
For in His sight they are meddlers,
Blaspheming what is being heard.
