My Stronghold
Hear, O Lord, as I cry aloud,
Please be gracious and answer me;
I look for a sign in the cloud,
For Your return that I can see.
You have said of seeking Your face,
My heart says “Your face I do seek”;
I need comfort of Your embrace,
Because I became humbly weak.
Please do not hide Your face from me,
Turn Your servant from the anger;
O You who helped with Your decree,
Inspire me not to languor.
Cast me not off or forsake me,
Because You are my salvation;
Please O Lord listen to my plea,
And make me a new creation.
My mother and father forsook,
Abandoned me as their child;
So that I come to You to look,
To cleanse from being defiled.
I want to learn Your way, O Lord,
On the straight and narrow path;
So I can be in one accord,
While being spared from the wrath.
Deliver me not to my foe,
Rising against as false witness;
Help that I am able to show,
A strengthened spiritual fitness.
I believe in faith that I see,
Able to the goodness of the Lord;
In the land of the living to be,
That my request is not ignored.
I am waiting for You O Lord,
My heart takes courage to be strong;
You strengthen me in one accord,
Showing that with You I belong.
