Mature Trials
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
Count it all joy into trial,
Falling into a temptation;
Satan trying to defile,
For a righteous separation.
Testing faith produces soundness,
In building your perseverance;
Patience increases profoundness,
To the Word for obedience.
Let steadfastness as a result,
That you are perfect and complete;
For blocking chaotic tumult,
Never to be feeling conceit.
If any of you lacks wisdom,
Pray to God giving your request;
He richly gives from His Kingdom,
So that you are doing your best.
Ask God in faith having no doubt,
Since doubt is like waves in the sea;
Driven by wind and tossed about,
As they are flowing fancy-free.
Think not you receive anything,
When having negative thoughts;
No matter what the day will bring,
But remember that Satan plots.
Be not a double-minded man,
That is causing unstable ways;
Anything is a wayward plan,
For detouring someone who strays.
Let the lowly brother to boast,
Humbled rejoiced exaltation;
Praising to the Heavenly Host,
Through spiritual proclamation.
Rich in his humiliation,
For like the flower of the grass;
To suffer annihilation,
Allowing the season to pass.
The sun rises with scorching heat,
Withering flower perishes;
While its beauty will deplete,
And it no longer flourishes.
