Mental
There is a different world out there
And they are living on a hospital mental floor,
For people who couldn't quite make it,
Hospitals full of woe and hatred !
I know because I was there
Even twice,
They said, shape up
Or ship out !
I was fortunate
I was a model prisoner,
But may were like caged lions
Fighting for every inch of their existence !
A young girl strapped to a chair
Screaming for hours without help,
A beautiful white haired lady
Talking to the wall for hours in her room !
An older man sleeping in his bed
Every day with an empty look,
He looked like a robot
Shipped him out to another hospital !
Another young man slept all day
With his door always wide open open,
Was violent with the nurses
And had to hire a security guard !
An older white haired man
Sat all day beside his door
Making sure everything was OK,
The young man thought who is this man ?
The young man got out of bed to check things out,
Hey dude what's going on with you ?
Just doing my job as best as I can
I am keeping an eye on you !
One day the young man said
Hey dad, you are very neat
The dad said son
You are just doing fine !
This security man had no son
And the young man's dad
Disowned him because he was so bad,
Both people needed each other !
Dad and son had a friendship
Was the key,
A friendship that never ended
The son was finally released !
He got a job and an apartment
And doing very well
But found a real dad along the way
Like father, like son !
