Clouds
Today while sitting on the dock at a boat club having a bit of an episode I found a calmness and stopped crying for a while. I looked up at the sky and realized how much humans and clouds were alike. They come in all different shapes and sizes. All clouds are a unique colour except clouds can’t exactly exclude or anything since they are inanimate. Some hangout in big clumps with a bunch of other clouds while others float peacefully by themselves. Some clouds seem whole, there are no breaks in them and they’re smooth. Complete. Other clouds are rough and patchy. Discombobulated I guess. Some clouds have this beautiful spark when the sun hits them while others are hidden from the sun and gloomy. I guess in a way I can relate to the broken, patchy dark clouds but at least I’m trying. Things may seem to keep getting worse for me no matter how hard I try but I’m still trying and that’s much more than a cloud can do. I wish I was a cloud. Life is too stressful for me maybe I’m like a cloud born in a humans body. That might explain the haze in my memory and life. Past or present. I don’t think clouds can be emotional but I know I’d be like a rain cloud. It’s not like I want to cry all the time it’s just who I am. A cloud.
About this poem
This is a poem about my mental health. I am a thirteen year old who has struggled the past couple years with my mental health and think very differently from most kids my age. I’ve been told I act older than I am and I guess that’s why I feel like a bit of a social outcast quite often. Poetry has been a helpful way to share my feelings.
