The Moralist

He walked the straight path always
Guiding his reputation
With all the breathe in him.
Life gave him a difficult task
But he was dauntless
Even in the midst of many foes.
When mocked by friends
He gave a smile of assurance.
They never fathomed
Where he draws his strength.
Always walking the straight path
Making men ashamed
Of their secret deeds.
With honour and courage
He played all his cards.
He gave no room for
Jealousy and anger
But he gave love in abundance.
Even in his dying days
He taught many the beauty
Of being truthful.
The life I have spent on this earth,
I have found but few men like him.
The true man of honour.
