Two naked hands clasp a third

Many hands have clasped mine in theirs

Like tenants of a room they have come and gone

Taking with them my eagerness to forgive and let go

And my faith to be healed again

You have brought it all back in one clasp

I have read the unspoken message in your warmth

And you can feel my trust in your grip

By the way my hand has locked into yours

Where have you been?

If these hands had met yours earlier

They wouldn’t have known scars
