Christ is Our Advocate
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
I am writing these things to you,
So that you do not commit sin;
What I am telling remains true,
If you retain your discipline.
But if anyone just might sin,
There is council with the Father;
Jesus Christ has righteously been,
Our advocate and Brother.
The atonement for transgression,
Not just for us but for each one;
When we pray with a confession,
To our Father through the Son.
Because we have come to know Him,
If we are keeping His precepts;
Faith and hope are no longer grim,
Looking towards heavenly concepts.
If you say that you know the Lord,
The truth will make you a liar;
His commandments you have ignored,
Your fate is the lake of fire.
Whoever is keeping His Word,
The love of God is perfected;
By cherishing what you have heard,
Never let it be neglected.
Whoever abides ought to walk,
Should be walking in the same way;
His thought, the same as Christ did talk,
For fending off going astray.
