The clincher of a dieing hero.
THE CLINCHER OF A DIEING HERO.
Go! tell awuru, my father
I died as a man.
I died as a soldier.
I had the nation on my shoulder while I gasp for my last.
Go! tell inam, my mother
Her son fought like a man.
I was strong and brave.
But, my breastplate fail to resist the bullet from an angry gun of the enemy.
Was it time?
Go tell ugah, my only wife.
That I am sorry.
I promised to return
I hadn't keep my promise.
But along this path of ancient heroes I've journeyed.
Into lands so dark and lonely.
Where returnees are loosers.
Tell her I love her.
Go tell itele, my son.
I died a legend.
My gun is my witness.
The tanks and the explosive could tell!
The enemies can attest.
Tell him to exhibit bravery
Tell him to be a man.
Tell him to wipe her mothers' tears
So I could journey smooth.
On this land where no tears drop.
Lest I have my heroic toga tainted by her tears.
Go tell 'obijegwu' my community.
Their son was a true soldier
He died at his post.
Tell the world
in my prime, I left before my time .
