Jesus is the Treasure

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

When the circumstances in the world
Do not affect my living.
Then I’ll be where I need to be
In You with great thanksgiving!

Blessed is the man that meditates
Upon Your law.
He doesn’t find himself ensnared
In traps that make men fall.

He keeps his eyes from gazing on the things
That wait to harm him.
He doesn’t pay attention to the women
That would charm him.

Blameless is the way of those
Who shut the world out.
They focus on the One who knows
What life is all about.

If your eye causes you to sin;
You need to pluck it out!
So, you can focus on the One.
Who knows what life’s about!

I know this might seem drastic
By its scope and by its measure.
But you won’t think twice about it,
If you seek what you can treasure!
