My Life, My Story
Today I'll be telling
A bit about me
And my purpose as a poet
Because it's not plain to see
First
I want you to know
That I'm almost blind but can still see
I can see all the problems the hopes the dreams and the fantasies
I walk every day
Hoping for a bright reality
Because I understand
How hard life can be
Second
My life is a journey
And I want it to be
I want it to be a story
A story of a boy
About to turn ten
He's failing all his classes
Becoming like the masses
Skipping school
Taken from his momma
His emotions were fuel
For the anger
For the rage
Doing things that weren't okay for his age
His anger made him blind so blind he could not see
Couldn't see his use couldn't see the truth
He couldn’t see that even he had a use
Grandparents took him in
And showed him the truth
He was stronger than he thought
He still carried feelings his life brought
So he turned that anger
That rage
Into ways he fought
And then he found out that his momma was sick
Sick doing drugs crap like meth
Fighting addiction
Her life was a mess
It put a dent in his life
lowered his strife
Four years later I've taken back my life
Getting my grades up
Student of almost all straight A's
Momma's back in my life
Doing her best
Cheering me on
As I become me
Third
Again
My life is a story
Yet that means nothing if there's nothing you learn from it
So take what you will
But I understand that life is an up and down hill
Fourth
My purpose
My goal is to inspire
To write about my feelings
While making myself stronger
They say the pen is Mightier
And I've got free speech
So I'll use that and my voice
To send a message
Guide the lost
Help the weak
So fifth
Let me help you
Take My hand
Make this journey hand in hand
Forget the words
Look at the pages
Forget the pages
Look at the chapters
Forget the chapters
Look at the book
Forget the book
Look at the message
Take the message
And make a change
Sixth
It's all about the big picture
Details are important too
They're stepping stones on the path that is life
So
Today
You've learned a bit about me
I'll make mistakes
And I will change
Guide each other on the way
Because we have sight
Even if we are blind
