My Christmas Memories
Dorothy A Miller 1947 (Smithfield, NC)
As I gazed outsider my window
to watch the falling snow
It suddenly brought back memories
Of Christmases long ago
Spending time with family
Visiting with old friends
If I could make just one wish I'd be a child again
Memories of Christmas they fill your heart with Joy
Waiting up for Santa to bring your favorite toy
Opening gifts with Mom and Dad on early
Christmas morn
Celebrating together in praise
The day that Christ was born
I can still smell the cookies we hung upon
our tree
And taste the ones that Momma made
especially, for me
All the songs we sang as carolers everyone
I used to know
It seems like only yesterday, but it was so long ago
Mom and Dad have passed now
As for me, well I've grown old
But to my grandchildren I love to tell
Those precious days of old
And though it was so long ago
I suppose there will always be
A little part of that little girl
Left inside of me
Memories of Christmas
They fill your heart with joy
Waiting up for Santa
To bring your favorite toy
Opening gifts with Mom and Dad
On early Christmas morn
Celebrating together in praise
The day that Christ was born
About this poem
It is about childhood memories of Christmas that as we grow older we all like to look back upon
