JUST A FRIEND

We are just friends,
that's what you always say,
Yet you tell me you love me,
In every single way.

You come to me for comfort
Whenever your feeling blue.
My shoulder you can cry on,
I'll always be there for you.

I give you all my attention,
Back tickles and great advice.
I hold you when your sleeping,
While I stare into the night.

Ill always hide the tears,
I can not let you see.
When you say you want her,
It crushes the soul in me.

My heart forever breaks,
When I see she's made you sad.
But I'll always pick up the pieces,
Even if it makes me mad.

One day I hope it clicks,
And you finally understand.
It was me the whole time,
The one holding your hand.

But how long will I feel so empty,
Will this heartache ever end?
How long will I have to wait,
Till I'm no longer just a friend.

About this poem

I wrote this poem to express how I feel towards my best friend. How I'm always the one he runs to but never the one he chooses.
